The Food Lion Credit Association has progressed rapidly since organization. It was founded at the Food Lion corporate office early in 1982 and has benefited from tremendous growth. The idea was formulated by a group of Food Lion employees who were enthusiastic about starting a credit association and were confident of the participation of Food Lion employees. Company management agreed with the idea and extended its encouragement and support to get the association started.
A charter was issued by the State of North Carolina on January 4, 1982 and the charter members were accepted in April of 1982. Membership has grown now to almost 12,000 and assets now close to fifteen million dollars.
